EMPLOYMENT
T.G. Kommatas & Associates is able to address all issues arising between an employer and employee, on both a litigious and non-litigious basis. Our client base is made up mainly of local and international companies, although we also represent all levels of personnel, including senior executives, hired in Greece or from abroad.
The local legislative framework and the relevant EU directives in this area are often complex and we aim to assist our clients in finding practical solutions to problems they may face on an everyday basis as well as those arising from structural changes to their business.
The firm is in a position to advise on all matters arising in this area, from the initial engagement of employees, continuing employment contracts, the severance or transfer of contractual relationships and the implementation of early retirement schemes. We regularly draft the employment contracts of all levels of employees including senior executives as well as contracts for the appointment of independent contractors or the outsourcing of specific services. We also advise on health and safety related issues in the workplace.
We are experienced in advising on employee benefits, retirement and pension schemes, share-option plans as well as terminations and redundancies. We assist multinationals in the immigration procedures to be undertaken for the employment of staff in Greece as ex-patriots, including obtaining residence and work permits.
The firm acts in relation to the employment law aspects of mergers and acquisitions, disposals, reconstructions, demergers, management buy-outs and privatisations. We are able to undertake negotiations with trade unions, draft collective labour agreements and handle disputes arising from such agreements through mediation and arbitration.
The employment and social security sector is a heavily regulated area in Greece and the firm advises on compliance with the regulations in effect and is able to conduct labour law audits and draft internal work regulations, in close cooperation with human resources departments.
We also represent our clients in disputes arising in relation to labour accidents, individual and collective dismissals, both before courts and the Labour Inspectorate. |
